Ghost in the Shell
Stand Alone Complex
The television series based on Masamune Shirow's Manga and Mamoru Oshii's highly influential film, 'Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex' takes viewers to a futuristic society where technology has saturated citizens' daily lives. Along with the new technology comes new types of crime that exploit it, but female cyborg Major Motoko Kusanagi and her team of police, Section 9, devote their lives to chasing criminals, both on land and in cyberspace.
The Ghost in the Shell series traded inspiration with films like The Matrix for many years. The Matrix drew influence from the 1995 Ghost in the Shell film and in turn the Ghost in the Shell series drew inspiration from The Matrix. This contributed greatly to solidifying the "Stand Alone Complex" series as a staple of the Cyberpunk genre.
Because of this, I wanted to reflect this influence in the design, featuring a digital grid pattern throughout and opting for a sleek spot gloss print across the design. It was important to capture those bright colours set against a moody background to reflect the style of the series.
An unboxing video was produced to promote the box set's release. Footage from the show was interspersed throughout the video to give the video a bit more appeal and catch people's attention.
